La Mesa has a quaint history to match it’s character.
” La Mesa, CA, known as “The Jewel of the Hills” was established in 1912. In its early days, this small Southern Californian town was in the movie-making business. Throughout much growth, both in population and industry, La Mesa’s sophisticated yet quaint image has only risen over the years. La Mesa is now best-known for its seasonal festivities, as well as for its quaint downtown area on La Mesa Blvd. more commonly referred to as “The Village.”
Take a stroll through The Village, and you will likely feel transported back in time, to the days when sharing an ice cream float with your sweetie made for a perfect day! Why the name? Who was Sheldon? Establish c1920 George Sheldon started one of the first full service gas stations in La Mesa. He was businessman and prominent member of the community. He was a charter Rotary member and the mayor of La Mesa from 1926 – 1930.
What’s to expect from Sheldon’s? We will continue to offer quality food and service for our growing community. We are looking forward to bringing more live music, family friendly events and unique dinners to La Mesa Blvd going forward. We cherish being part of such a fun city with a great history. We believe George would be proud of the great service and community involvement Sheldon’s will keep providing for La Mesa Blvd
